Error Message Encoding.....

Message par >Sheldon< »

MAJOR HELP NEEDED GUYS...I've been using rippack for a while, got a new movie recently and decided to rip it to AVI, unfortunetly Rippack came up with an error when I tried to encode the DVD, also none of my AVI videos would play in either Media player or Realplayer. I've managed to sort out the playing problem, reinstalled Mediaplayer and realplayer & many codec packs, howver im still getting the error message when trying to encode, the error message is as follows: -

DivXAuto 40b (Title of window)
Error: Couldnt find selection 'DivX Pro 5.0.2 Codec' in ComboBox 0

I have removed and reinstalled all my codec packs, and rip pack many times, any help sorting this problem out would be great.

Thanks

A french user is having the same bug, and what is recommended to him is to reinstall his codec...

It should be a bad version of the codec, so you should use the one given with rippack... otherwise try to reinstall rippack full pack !

Blimey that was quick, yeah ive done that removed rippack and all the codecs and reinstalled and it still comes up with the error, I've also repaired windows XP which fixed the playing AVI problem, but rippack simply wont work now, even if i reinstall.

in my opinion, formatting is not the better solution, but sometimes...

Did you install some other codec? or a codec pack??? if yes try to see if there's no problem with it :???:

Hi, I didnt install anything just one day when I went to use rip pack it didnt work, I've loaded G Spot Codec Information and that isnt reporting any errors, I've also removed all the codec packs and just installed those that come with rippack with still no luck.

Looks like somet is seriously gone tits up, think format c: is the only answer to sort the rip pack problem out.

infact thinking about it the last thing i installed was quicktime, think that might be the guilty party as it says that quicktime comes with codecs.

Dunno wot caused it but it looks like it was a corrupt file in the windows\system32 folder, I installed the latest Kazaa Codec pack which has a better versoin of Gspot Codec Information which told me exactly which file was causing the problem I just deleted it and everything seems fine now.

Weird :???:

if you want to use the rippack, i suggest you to :
- uninstall all your codecs packs
- uninstall and re-install the rippack v16.1
- compress your movie with the divX5.02 codec (don't try to upgrad your divX 5.02 codec)
- use the satsuki decoder pack to viewing movies who are compress with another codec
Tout ce que je viens de te dire est faux, car j'ai déjà changé...

@sheldon : you gave us a very interesting information. So, the last version of gspot is able to tell you which codec file is corrupted. And removing this file removed the problem.
I will remember that next time I will clik in "Click here in order to install Quick Time codecs".
Thanks for the info.
